Bolstering Cybersecurity Awareness at Maharishi International University
MIU launches cybersecurity awareness program because of the alarming rate of college campuses being attacked by ransomware and fishing emails lately.
In addition to the many procedures and monitoring equipment already in place to reduce the risk of security threats, individuals also play an important role in maintaining our cyber security posture to prevent hacks from occurring.
Each month, all faculty & staff should watch a short (4-5 minute) video and answer a few related questions. This will be sent out by and tracked by our cybersecurity training provider, Infosec. These videos should help you spot real phishing emails in the future and keep you abreast of other important cybersecurity topics.
Our priority is to create a culture of security awareness through relevant training, reinforced by both offline and online targeted communications. We need to have your support as we champion security awareness across all levels of our organization. Any questions should be addressed to Carol Passos in HR or Tom Scorzelli in IT.

As December draws to a close, we want to send our love and heartfelt best wishes to you for a New Year ahead filled with good health, joy, and peace.
These past few years have been especially challenging for us all and yet, despite this, we have been able to maintain the vital groups of Maharishi Vedic Pandits in India. Your ongoing care and support for this program have been essential in making this happen — and is so deeply appreciated.
In recent months, we have been able to resume much of the work that had been stalled at the Brahmasthan for almost two years due to the mandated personnel and work restrictions as well as our own precautions. It has been very heartening to see this work now continue, for building maintenance and repair.
In addition, we have been able to start the planned expansion of our own organic farming to be able to give the Maharishi Vedic Pandits organic wheat, rice, dhal, and vegetables. We will be reporting in greater detail on the specifics of these developments in the New Year. We have also been able recently to bring back larger numbers of Pandits to the Brahmasthan and to have larger numbers gather for their group meditations and Yagyas. And due to the current level of donations, we have been able to increase the dakshina (payments) for the Pandits.
Like you, we deeply pray that this coming year brings continued progress for all of the dear Maharishi Vedic Pandits throughout India. And may the world emerge from all of its challenges to be healthier, more prosperous and peaceful.
Thank you again for your care for the Maharishi Vedic Pandits. Creating and maintaining these groups is essential for the welfare of the world, now and for the future.

16-Lesson Course Taught by Professor Keith Wegman
Reading the Vedic Literature in Sanskrit is a technology of Maharishi Vedic Science to accelerate the unfoldment of higher states of consciousness. In this eight-week, 16-lesson course, participants will learn everything necessary to read the texts of the Vedic Literature — such as the Bhagavad-Gītā and Ramayan — in the Devanagari script. This is not a course for learning grammar and meaning, but experience and research have found that reading the Vedic Literature for its sound value accelerates the development of higher states of consciousness.

A Gift of Harmony, Health, and Spiritual Awakening
NEXT US NATIONAL YAGYASM PERFORMANCE
JANUARY 4 – JANUARY 14
A Most Powerful Start to the New Year
As we look forward to the coming year, we want to thank all of our wonderful donors for their generosity to the National Yagya program and our large groups of Maharishi Vedic Pandits. Their commitment to this vital program is enlightened leadership in the deepest sense.
Starting on January 4, the next 11-day US National Yagya will be performed through the annual, worldwide January 12 celebrations honoring our beloved Maharishi.
More than 50 countries from every continent will also be having their own National Yagyas at this most auspicious time.
What better way to start the New Year than to join in this powerful convergence of National Yagyas?
The Sankalpa (intention) of the Yagya will be:
Coherence, harmony, health, and spiritual awakening
for the United States—and all of its people
May the full power of Nature’s Creative Intelligence guide and uplift America, and may Maharishi’s legacy of peace and enlightenment permanently bless the human race.
“The technique for receiving help from the surroundings lies in our own attitude of giving. If we want to receive maximum help at all times, we must have an attitude of giving. ”
“It is a law of nature that if you want to receive you must give. If you are sincere in giving, you receive many times over in return.”

Welcome to the “Genius Lounge,” a new audio series with Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, author of the NY Times bestseller, “Strength in Stillness,” and 50-year teacher of Transcendental Meditation®.
Why do we call it Genius Lounge?
This audio series focuses on the genius of nature, from microscopic to macroscopic, including the genius of the human brain and body. The name was inspired by brain researchers who have identified key networks within the brain that underlie and foster the creative process. One such network is the “Default Mode Network,” which has also been called the “Imagination Network” and the “Genius Lounge.” Innovation gets its start here—and the practice of Transcendental Meditation accelerates the process by strengthening the creative networks within the brain and by removing the restrictive impact of stress.
In each episode, Bob shares a few minutes of exciting research findings on the brain, ancient and modern insights into consciousness, and/or inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.

Results: Using ANOVA for all 11 subscales revealed significant increases in physical, mental, and general health, self-esteem (P < .001), perceived health (P < .017); and significant decreases in anxiety, depression, and anxiety-depression (P < .001). There were no significant group effects on pain, disability, or social health.
Conclusions: Consciousness-Based Education was found to buffer the effects of stress on mental and physical health in college students. Consciousness-Based Education’s influence in lowering anxiety and depression while improving self-esteem and general health presents an effective tool for educators and administrators to consider in assisting students combating the stress of college life

Uplifting Children and Their Community through Dance 45:52
A conversation with the founder of the Tony Williams Dance Center and Urban Nutcracker
|
|
|
|
|
|
Tony Williams is the founder of the Tony Williams Dance Center and Urban Nutcracker, and founder and artistic director of City Ballet of Boston. At age 16, after experiencing trouble as a street gang member, Williams discovered a pathway to success through an interest in gymnastics and then ballet.
With a scholarship from the Boston School of Ballet, Williams joined the Boston Ballet in 1964. After dancing for only three years, he worked his way up from the Corps-de-Ballet to Principal Dancer. He then danced soloist roles with the Joffrey Ballet and was a Principal Dancer with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Gulbenkian Ballet of Portugal, and the Norwegian National Ballet.
Williams has been teaching in the New England area for 30 years. With this background, and as a father of three sons, Williams is sensitive to the needs of youth. Widely respected as a progressive dance educator, he has won the Dance Teacher Magazine and the Wheelock Family Theater’s Wheel Awards.
Williams discusses the role of dance programs for children living in our inner cities, and shows excerpts from his annual production of the Urban Nutcracker. He also talks about how his 50+ years of daily practice of the TM technique have influenced his remarkable life.

Dr Stein as a Quantum Physicist comments on the paradigm shift that has been created by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and more recently is being brought to the public awareness by Dr. Tony Nader, MD, PhD, MARR, in his book ‘One Unbounded Ocean of Consiousness’ and his master class ‘Consciousness – a New Paradigm’.
Dr Stein clarified that in all physical sciences there is an external observer. However, with the new paradigm the perspective of Unity Consciousness is taken, where consciousness observes itself, and from that self-referral interaction within unbounded, unitary consciousness all material creation appears.
In quantum physics this parallels the theories brought forward by Everett, Wheeler, Zeh, Zurek and others, where there is no external observer, but whether a particle behaves as a wave or as a particle is based on the correlation inside the system itself.

Transcendental meditation may be a useful intervention for lowering systolic BP in Black patients with high-normal BP, according to study data published in American Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
“Black adults in the United States suffer from disproportionately high mortality compared to whites. The largest contributor to this disparity is cardiovascular disease,” Robert H. Schneider, MD, FACC, director of the NIH-funded Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention and professor of physiology and health at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, and colleagues wrote. “Despite overall decline in CVD mortality in the general population in recent decades, Black adults continue to have the highest total burden of CVD from CHD, cerebrovascular disease and heart failure compared to other racial/ethnic groups.
“In consideration of the substantial and persistent disparities in hypertension, CVD and related comorbidities such as COVID-19 in Black adults, which are associated with social determinants of health and psychosocial stress, this randomized controlled trial compared the long-term effects of stress reduction with meditation to health education control in Black men and women with high normal and normal blood pressure,” Schneider and colleagues wrote.
In a randomized controlled, single-blind trial, researchers included 304 Black participants aged 21 to 75 years with high-normal BP (defined as 130-139/85-89 mm Hg) or normal BP (defined as 120-129/80-84 mm Hg). Participants were randomly assigned to transcendental meditation (TM) or health education (HE) groups and had their BP recorded at 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, 30 and 36 months after baseline. Researchers used linear mixed model analysis to compare changes in BP between TM and HE participants in the high-normal and normal BP groups and conducted survival analysis for hypertensive events.
After an average of 19.9 months follow-up, high-normal BP participants in the TM group showed lower posttest systolic BP (3.2 mm Hg; P = .045) but not diastolic BP (0.9 mm Hg; P = .53) compared with high-normal BP participants in the HE group.
Among participants with normal BP, there was no difference found in systolic and diastolic BP between the TM and HE groups.
