At MIU, we welcome and celebrate a rich diversity of cultures, backgrounds, identities, and values in a community that cultivates openness and togetherness, authenticity and respect, kindness and mutual support.
Our first campus-wide climate survey
MIU’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in collaboration with the Diversity Committee, is administering our first campus-wide campus culture survey. We want to learn how students, staff, and faculty feel about the campus climate, especially around diversity and inclusion.
Will the responses be anonymous? Completely. Your responses cannot be traced back to you. The survey does not capture personally identifiable information unless you offer it in any of the comment fields. To further protect your anonymity, your responses are combined with many others and summarized in a report.
Will we be able to see the results? Yes. The survey results will be available on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion website, and we will announce the results as well as a link to the final report when they’re ready.
How will the results be used? This information will help us create a more welcoming environment for everyone on campus, especially those from underrepresented groups. It will help us develop our Diversity Strategic Action Plan, and it will support research, education, and programming that will advance inclusivity at MIU.

The film, Jerry's Last Mission, had an exclusive release through Utopia Distribution’s ALTAVOD on November 11, 2021, Veterans Day, and will be available December 4 on Apple TV and Apple iTunes. Jerry’s autobiography, originally published as Of War And Weddings in 1995, has been re-released as Jerry’s Last Mission by Armin Lear Press to coincide with the release of the documentary film. Find out more in their press release: ARMIN LEAR RELEASES JERRY’S LAST MISSION CONCURRENT WITH DOCUMENTARY.
JERRY’S LAST MISSION captures the emotional turmoil of World War II enemy combatants whose lives are forever changed when their youngest children marry each other. Jerry Yellin was a World War II P-51 fighter pilot who returned to the United States from the Battle of Iwo Jima and 19 missions over Japan with a deep loathing of the Japanese. Taro Yamakawa enlisted in the Japanese military hoping to fly fighter planes against the hated Americans and, if necessary, die for his country and Emperor.
Their feelings of distrust and animosity toward each other’s nation lingered for years until their world was turned upside down when Jerry’s youngest son moved to Japan and fell in love with Taro’s daughter. Through deep agonizing soul-searching reflection, the two fathers eventually open their hearts and their arms to each other.

How can I be happier? What is my purpose in life? How can I achieve my fullest potential? How can I help make the world a better place?
Just about everyone asks these questions, and they're becoming more important all the time.
Dr. Tony Nader brings breakthrough answers to these questions. He starts with three profound insights into the nature of life:
-
The essence of all life — our own life and the life of the universe — is consciousness. Everything is made out of consciousness.
-
Consciousness can be developed, expanded — easily and effortlessly.
-
Developing consciousness is the key to everything good in life — to happiness and health, to success and social harmony, to world peace.
The fee includes a detailed Study Guide with the main points and study questions for each session.
- $145 general tuition fee
- $75 students, retirees, and anyone adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic

Welcome to the “Genius Lounge,” a new audio series with Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, author of the NY Times bestseller, “Strength in Stillness,” and 50-year teacher of Transcendental Meditation®.
Why do we call it Genius Lounge?
This audio series focuses on the genius of nature, from microscopic to macroscopic, including the genius of the human brain and body. The name was inspired by brain researchers who have identified key networks within the brain that underlie and foster the creative process. One such network is the “Default Mode Network,” which has also been called the “Imagination Network” and the “Genius Lounge.” Innovation gets its start here—and the practice of Transcendental Meditation accelerates the process by strengthening the creative networks within the brain and by removing the restrictive impact of stress.
In each episode, Bob shares a few minutes of exciting research findings on the brain, ancient and modern insights into consciousness, and/or inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.

During a lecture in Humboldt, California, 1970, Maharishi answers a question from a Course Participant about behavior and relationships.
Maharishi explains that, 'The whole field of behavior is dependent on what we are — how small or how big, how limited or how broad we are in our awareness. And spontaneously that is the level of behavior...
'That is why the basic thing to improve any aspect of life — and behavior is a very, very important aspect of life — to do that we just broaden awareness. And to broaden awareness, we make use of nothing other than what life is.'
We created an eBook with audio along with the text from this lecture and included some very beautiful pictures of Maharishi.
We highly recommend viewing it on a computer with Google Chrome as this gives a very full and enjoyable experience. Please turn the pages slowly and wait for the audio bar to begin playing on the selected pages with audio. The first audio bar appears on page 4 after the title pages.
To view more eBooks, please click here. We kindly request not to repost this eBook or any of the pictures in the eBook on any social media platforms

FAIRFIELD, Iowa – When transcendental meditation teachers Jim and Sara Anderson decided Fairfield would be their home base they bought 10 acres of a housing development just northwest of town. At that time, back in 2013, they had no idea they would grow as attached to the land as they have become. Eight years later, and with some help from the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT) the now 35 acre Anderson Prairie Farm will remain a farm practicing regenerative agriculture. “Ad Infinitum,” says Sara.
The Andersons built their home themselves, in the Vedic style not uncommon in the Fairfield area. Most of that original land they converted to a natural prairie. After the home was complete they began gardening and found lots of healthy foods that grew well in the soil around their home.

Following are links to a number of recent articles regarding their historic trip to visit Maharishi in Rishikesh.

|
|
|
|
|
This first article is from Great Indian Mutiny published on October 28, 2021, and talks about the Beatles exhibition, The Beatles in India. The exhibition begins with a review of a trip to an ‘ashram’ (spiritual rest house) in the Beatles Rishikesh to begin transcendental meditation at the hands of renowned Guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.In this section you can see pictures and documents, but as a metaphor for the nature of Rishikesh, you can hear the songs of the Liverpool quartet in the editions of current Indian musicians by setting up fast with white cloth next to a banyan tree.

Next from scoopwhoop on October 31, 2021 we have Eat, Pray, Love: 10 Times Famous People Travelled To India For Enlightenment including the Beatles and The Beachboys. Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison famously visited Rishikesh in the 1960s to study Transcendental Meditation under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
The Beach Boys: This iconic band had a close karmic connection with India. They also visited Rishikesh to practice Transcendental Meditation under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi after a recommendation from The Beatles.
If you click on the link, you may be surprised to see some of the other famous people who spent time in India.

Also on October 31, 2021, ShowBizCheatSheet reported on an interview with George Harrison: In 1968, The Beatles went to Rishikesh in northern India to study meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. They were all big on spirituality and expanding their consciousness. In 1967, George Harrison was interviewed by the International Times about his thoughts on God and the meaning of it all. One thing Harrison was excited to talk about was “the buzz of all buzzes,” and how to attain it naturally.

On November 11, 2021, TAG24 published an article entitled: FANS ACROSS THE UNIVERSE ARE THRILLED WITH DISCOVERY OF THIS LOST BEATLES SONG!
The song, titled Radhe Shaam, was penned by Suresh Joshi. The 75-year-old journalist introduced the Beatles to the late Indian yoga guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Beatles Museum in Liverpool said on Wednesday. In the late 1960s, the bandmates were inspired by the guru and even traveled to India for lessons from him.

On November 14, 2021, Nandini Ramnath reports in Scroll.in: Directed by Ajoy Bose and co-directed by Pete Compton, The Beatles and India expands on the research and interviews featured in Bose’s 2018 book Across the Universe. The film retraces the steps leading up to the stay at the ashram run by the spiritual leader Mahesh Yogi in 1968. These include George Harrison’s friendship with sitar legend Ravi Shankar and his interest in Hindustani music and Hinduism.

FAR OUT magazine reports on November 21, 2021 on the story of Paul McCartney's dystopian Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five. The former Beatle was always keen to take his inspiration from relatively novel resources. Whether it be a speech given by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a headline in a paper, or the last words of a legendary painter, McCartney could find a hook in just about any work, whether it be fanciful or fatalistic.
Another report in the same magazine on October 27, 2021: He wrote the track (Back In The USSR) when the ‘Fab Four’ had absconded to Rishikesh in India while they were meditating with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Also present there was Mike Love of the aforementioned Beach Boys.

NDTV on October 27, 2021: Only a few days ago, we saw Samantha Ruth Prabhu exploring Rishikesh. The actress paid a visit to the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram, also known as the Beatles ashram. In her caption, Samantha wrote, "To stand where the Beatles once did. At Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram where they practiced 'Transcendental Meditation' and wrote some of their famous songs. 48 of them ... I mean." She added the hashtag "fangirl forever" and "the Beatles in Rishikesh" among others.
