Survey Introduction
At MIU, we are committed to supporting all our employees in reaching their full potential. As we design new initiatives to do this, it's important that we hear from you about your experiences at the University and how you feel we might do a better job at supporting you and your career development.
Therefore, we invite you to take this Staff Engagement Survey between 13th of December and 31st of December.
We will not see your name, email, or other personal information. Your responses cannot be traced back to you. The survey does not capture personally identifiable information, unless you offer it in any of the comment fields. To further protect your anonymity, your responses are combined with many others and summarized in a report.
The results will be used to identify practices that engage employees and help us build a productive work-environment. Additionally, the results will enable us to identify problems that disengage employees, decline customer satisfaction, and derail overall performance.
Upon analysis of data, we will share the findings with the whole organization in the beginning of next year.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Maximilian Ostheimer (mostheimer@miu.edu) in Human Resources.

Maharishi Yagya Performances
For Dear Isabelle Levi
Our dear Isabelle Levi is facing some health challenges. She has a condition of the spine that has been extremely painful and has prevented her from attending program in the ladies Dome. As you know, her daily program in the Dome is very important to her. She will be having an important surgery at the end of January with the desire and likelihood to correct this condition and allow her to live pain-free and be active again.
Our Maharishi Jyotish Jyotishis have recommended Yagyas that will facilitate this surgery and support her recovery. Isabelle has already been able to raise more than $2000 of the $5000 needed for the Rahu and Mangala Yagyas which were strongly advised. Please let all Isabelle’s friends know of this opportunity to support her. For those who are able, and would like to make a contribution toward her Maharishi Yagya performances, please use the link below to make your tax-deductible donation directly for Isabelle’s Yagyas at Brahmananda Saraswati Yagya Foundation. Thanks for sharing this news and gathering Isabelle’s support.

Chamber Singers announce concert for Dec. 18
The Chamber Singers of Southeast Iowa will sing a holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Golden Magnolia Sanctuary in Fairfield, formerly the First Presbyterian Church.
The program features Christmas-themed masterworks from the 1500s by leading composers such as Victoria, Josquin, Viadana, and Praetorious, as well as contemporary arrangements of traditional and familiar carols.
Elaine Reding, director of the Chamber Singers, said the chorus will sing a cappella, with “a beautiful flute and cello interlude to complement the choral works.”
“I look forward to the holiday season every year, when our attention turns to peace, harmony, fellowship, and goodwill toward others,” Reding said. “We look to the awakening born of light overcoming darkness, the Christmas star leading us forward, the miracle of Hanukkah lights, and the promise of new solstice light. These cherished traditions and experiences instill hope of new and better beginnings in this celebratory season.”
The Golden Magnolia Sanctuary is at 200 S. Main St. in Fairfield, and doors will open at 7 p.m. There is an entry donation of $7, or $5 for students with a valid student ID (cash or checks only). For the safety of all concerned, the Golden Magnolia requires that masks be worn on the main floor, with masks recommended in the balcony.
The Chamber Singers of Southeast Iowa are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. Their first concert was in 1991, and since then the group has performed more than 600 choral works from 40 countries. More than 150 people have been a member of the choir.
For the first 10 years of its life, the group met at Barhydt Chapel on the campus of Maharishi International University and at First Presbyterian Church at the invitation of the Rev. Richard Wallarab. After Barhydt Chapel was torn down in 2001, the Rev. Stephen Page of St. Mary Church hosted the Chambers Singers for many years. For the following 15 years, the Chamber Singers rehearsed and performed their holiday concerts once again at the First Presbyterian Church.

Orientation Meeting: Wednesday Dec. 29th 2pm
Personal Instruction: Thursday Dec. 30th
Checking Meeting: Friday Dec. 31st 9:30am & 11am
“The purpose of Advanced Techniques is to take the experience to another, higher level. Advanced Techniques are like fertilizers; fertilizers bring better fruit to every tree. To enjoy greater achievement and fulfillment in life, take advantage of this beautiful program of Advanced Techniques to enrich the development of higher states of consciousness.” —TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
We are delighted to announce that Advanced Techniques of the TM® program will be offered at the Fairfield, Iowa TM Center from Dec. 30th to 31st. Here are the details.
Q: What are Advanced Techniques?
A: Like the TM technique, Advanced Techniques are easily-practiced mental techniques that accelerate personal growth. During TM, we experience a fourth state of consciousness, a state of restful alertness that dissolves stress, enhances brain functioning, and balances the body and emotions. Advanced Techniques speed up the integration of this state with our regular daily activity, bringing faster results from our TM practice.
Q: How many are there?
A: There are four Advanced Techniques brought to light by Maharishi in his Vedic Science and Technology, the Science and Technology of Consciousness. The first is practiced for a few minutes before going to sleep. The second, third, and fourth Advanced Techniques are effortlessly incorporated into your twice-daily TM practice.
Q: Do I learn them all at once or one at a time?
A: One at a time and in sequence. You’ll practice an Advanced Technique at least two to four months before adding the next one.
Q: Who teaches the Advanced Techniques?
A: Specially trained, highly experienced certified TM teacher Mario Orsatti has been teaching the TM technique since 1973 and the Advanced Technique courses for the last 4 years. He is the Executive Director of the Center for Health and Wellness at the David Lynch Foundation, where he oversees TM programs for government and military leaders in Washington, D.C., and for business executives in New York City. He will be present at each session for instruction and verification.
Q: Who can learn, and how do I know if I’m ready?
A: You must have practiced TM regularly, twice a day, for a minimum of the last two months to be eligible to apply for an Advanced Technique. Each technique is simple—easy to learn, easy to practice—and, best of all, enjoyable! That said, if you’d like our advice regarding your personal readiness, just give us a call.
Q: What is the course structure?
A: The course consists of three sessions:
-
First, an orientation meeting (1½ hours)
-
Second, personal instruction in the appropriate Advanced Technique (2–3 hours)
-
Third, a checking meeting the following day to answer questions and verify the correctness of your practice (2 hours)
Orientation: An orientation meeting is an opportunity to learn more about Advanced Techniques. It is free, and there is no obligation to take the course. But if you want to learn an Advanced Technique at this time, you must attend the orientation meeting and then fill out an application form.

Welcome to the “Genius Lounge,” a new audio series with Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, author of the NY Times bestseller, “Strength in Stillness,” and 50-year teacher of Transcendental Meditation®.
Why do we call it Genius Lounge?
This audio series focuses on the genius of nature, from microscopic to macroscopic, including the genius of the human brain and body. The name was inspired by brain researchers who have identified key networks within the brain that underlie and foster the creative process. One such network is the “Default Mode Network,” which has also been called the “Imagination Network” and the “Genius Lounge.” Innovation gets its start here—and the practice of Transcendental Meditation accelerates the process by strengthening the creative networks within the brain and by removing the restrictive impact of stress.
In each episode, Bob shares a few minutes of exciting research findings on the brain, ancient and modern insights into consciousness, and/or inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WBZ NewsRadio) — With hospitals across the country losing staff due to the stresses of COVID-19, some New England hospitals have implemented a pilot program called "Heal the Healers Now," teaching doctors, nurses, and other medical staff how to do Transcendental Meditation (TM) to handle the pressures from their work.
Dr. Bradley Collins of Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island said that doctors and nurses were already burnt out by the pandemic when the Delta variant of COVID-19 hit and made matters even worse. He said that the feeling was similar to post-traumatic stress disorder.
But then, like a "God-send," Collins told WBZ's Suzanne Sausville that TM helped him get back on his feet. Collins was so impressed by the program that he went to the hospital's president with a proposal. "I said, 'maybe we can do a project to try to retain some of these nurses by offering TM as a burnout tool instead of having them leave.'"

December 2, 2021: Later, CM Yogi shared his statement on Koo social media platform, where he wrote “Lord Rama never committed or tolerated injustice. And we will not commit any irreligious act or tolerate such acts. Previous governments pretended to be secular and turned away from India and Indianness. And it was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who dared to put India's point before the world. His work is commendable.”
In another post on Koo, he said, “When there was a false propaganda about the Vedas, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi boldly presented the real teachings of Vedas, episodes of Ramayana and quotes from Mahabharata on global forums.”Dec 2, 2021

Also from News Track Hindi on December 1, 2021 we have this article:
CM Yogi Adityanath further said that the previous governments were pretending to be secular, trying to turn away from India and Indianness, when Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ji dared to put India's point before the world with all sincerity. His work was wonderful for that period and is commendable for the present time.
CM Yogi said that there was propaganda about the Vedas in the world. Facts were misrepresented. Even after all this, in international for a, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ji boldly presented India and Indianness, vedas education, Ramayana themes and mahabharata quotes.
