At age 17 Carol discovered Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation (TM) just two weeks after graduation from Plattsburgh High School. She knew immediately that this was what she was looking for. After a few false starts, she became a student at Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa, where she graduated with a BA in literature in 1981.
Following college, Carol worked at various Maharishi University campuses worldwide, including in Puerto Rico, Washington D.C., the Philippines, the Netherlands, and the Catskill mountains. She was trained by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as a teacher of the TM technique in Como, Italy and Seelisberg, Switzerland. After her training, she returned to Plattsburgh to teach TM and commuted to Burlington by bike to teach there.
In 2005 Carol returned from assignment in Boone, N.C., to care for her aging parents for what turned out to be five years. They each passed away in the comfort of their own home with the best loving care. This proved to be a turning point in Carol's life, and in 2007 the Clinton County Office for the Aging awarded her Caregiver of the Year.

The stress‑relieving benefits of the Transcendental Meditation (TM®) technique has a powerful effect on reducing acute societal stress, especially when groups of people practice the advanced TM‑Sidhi® program together. Even a small number of advanced TM practitioners can create a powerful, peaceful impact for entire countries, as this one‑minute clip—with 2.8M Facebook views—explains.
As tensions rise between Russia and Ukraine, the TM organizations in the United States and around the world are working urgently to implement this proven technology of peace to help prevent an escalation in hostilities. We are mobilizing and helping to fund peace‑creating groups in Russia and Ukraine to defuse the acute societal stress that can erupt into conflict: 100 Russian and 100 Ukrainian practitioners of the TM and TM‑Sidhi programs will assemble for large group practice in their respective countries for two months. A group is also mobilizing in Crimea.
The worldwide TM organizations are contributing $150,000 to support 100 volunteer peace‑creators. Your tax‑deductible gift will assist 100 more Russian and Ukrainian volunteers, who will take time away from their families and jobs to play this vital role for their countries—and the world. To make this possible, we need to cover their basic living expenses:
- $25 will sponsor 1 volunteer for 1 day.
- $175 will sponsor 1 volunteer for 1 week.
- $750 will sponsor 1 volunteer for 1 month.
- $1,500 will sponsor 1 volunteer for 2 months, or 60 days.
Extensive, well‑controlled research on this Brain‑Based Approach to Peace demonstrates that the square root of 1% of a population experiencing and enlivening Transcendental Consciousness through the TM and advanced TM‑Sidhi programs generates coherence and harmony in collective consciousness. Multiple studies have shown that this effect helps to resolve conflict and improve the quality of life in the population as a whole. This phenomenon is known as the Maharishi Effect, after TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
The square root of 1% of Russia’s population of 144 million is 1,200; for Ukraine’s population of 44 million, it is 700. Our long‑term goal is to fully implement these larger groups. The first crucial step is to immediately establish these two core groups of 100 volunteers each. Given compelling evidence from 40 published studies, we believe these two groups will help defuse tensions in the region.
We welcome your support to help create the conditions for a peaceful, diplomatic resolution in Russia and Ukraine.

“The purpose of Advanced Techniques is to take the experience to another, higher level. Advanced Techniques are like fertilizers; fertilizers bring better fruit to every tree. To enjoy greater achievement and fulfillment in life, take advantage of this beautiful program of Advanced Techniques to enrich the development of higher states of consciousness.” — Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Q: What are Advanced Techniques?
A: Like the TM technique, Advanced Techniques are easily-practiced mental techniques that accelerate personal growth. During TM, we experience a fourth state of consciousness, a state of restful alertness that dissolves stress, enhances brain functioning, and balances the body and emotions. Advanced Techniques speed up the integration of this state with our regular daily activity, bringing faster results from our TM practice.
Q: How many are there?
A: There are four Advanced Techniques brought to light by Maharishi in his Vedic Science and Technology, the Science and Technology of Consciousness. The first is practiced for a few minutes before going to sleep. The second, third, and fourth Advanced Techniques are effortlessly incorporated into your twice-daily TM practice.
Q: Do I learn them all at once or one at a time?
A: One at a time and in sequence. You’ll practice an Advanced Technique at least two to four months before adding the next one.
Q: Who teaches the Advanced Techniques?
A: Specially trained, highly experienced certified TM teacher Mario Orsatti has been teaching the TM technique since 1973 and the Advanced Technique courses for the last 4 years. He is the Executive Director of the Center for Health and Wellness at the David Lynch Foundation, where he oversees TM programs for government and military leaders in Washington, D.C., and for business executives in New York City. He will be present at each session for instruction and verification.
Q: Who can learn, and how do I know if I’m ready?
A: You must have practiced TM regularly, twice a day, for a minimum of the last two months to be eligible to apply for an Advanced Technique. Each technique is simple—easy to learn, easy to practice—and, best of all, enjoyable! That said, if you’d like our advice regarding your personal readiness, just give us a call.
Q: What is the course structure?
A: The course consists of three sessions:
-
First, an orientation meeting (1½ hours)
-
Second, personal instruction in the appropriate Advanced Technique (2–3 hours)
-
Third, a checking meeting the following day to answer questions and verify the correctness of your practice (2 hours)
Orientation: An orientation meeting is an opportunity to learn more about Advanced Techniques. It is free, and there is no obligation to take the course. But if you want to learn an Advanced Technique at this time, you must attend the orientation meeting and then fill out an application form. If the orientation meeting time does not work for you, let us know, and we will find another time to meet with you. Contact by email at wdevasier@tm.org or call 641-919-8188 or 641-919-1300.
Orientation: Friday, February 25 at 2:00 PM
Personal Instruction: Saturday Feb. 26th
Checking Meeting: Sunday Feb. 27th 9:30am & 11am

A Gift of Harmony, Health, and Spiritual Awakening
NEXT US NATIONAL YAGYASM PERFORMANCE
FEBRUARY 19 – MARCH 1
|
|
|
|
|
|
“It is collective consciousness that administers a nation.
“We have, with the grace of Guru Dev, established a principle of improving collective consciousness of every nation. It is with these Vedic performances, through the Yagyas and through the Yogic Flyers. That is our task before us.” — Maharishi
America is undergoing a major transformation—together with the rest of our world.
If you’ve been following the news, you know that the situation between Russia and Ukraine is precarious. There is a major concern that the Russia-Ukraine crisis could erupt into a superpower confrontation that will engulf the United States and many other nations.
Maharishi has given us the supreme technologies of Yoga and Yagya, which we can use to defuse the tension and avert this danger. We need only employ them to a sufficient degree.
Responding to the situation, generous donors from the US and several other countries moved quickly to fund a large Maharishi Yagya for peace in the Russia and Ukraine Region. This Yagya began on February 4.
If ever there was a time to support our National Yagyas, this is it.
Starting on February 19 and culminating on March 1, the highly auspicious Vedic day of Maha Shivaratri, the next National Yagya performance gives us the precious opportunity to build on that initial momentum.
Shiva represents the infinitely dynamic silence at the foundation of all creation—the almighty impulse of Creative Intelligence that clears the path to spiritual and material progress. This profoundly transformational aspect of Nature is most accessible and lively on this day.
Yagyas performed at this time are especially effective for bringing about positive transformation, and fulfilling desires most difficult to achieve—whether for individuals, families, companies, or entire nations.
The Sankalpa (intention) of the Yagya will be:
Coherence, harmony, health, and spiritual awakening
for the United States—and all of its people and
Bringing healing, coherence, and peace
for all the people of the Russia and Ukraine Region
May the full power of Nature’s Creative Intelligence guide and uplift America, and may Maharishi’s legacy of peace and enlightenment permanently bless the human race.
Feel free to be in touch with Stan Crowe, Director of our US National Yagya program, for anything you might need. scrowe@tm.org 641-919-765

A very special day is coming soon for those thinking of having a Well-Being/Special Yagya performed.
The highly auspicious Maha Shivaratri, March 1st, is that one day when the infinite peace and silence of Pure Consciousness is most accessible to bestow spiritual and material progress and fulfillment in life.
Through the performance of a Well Being Yagya/Special Yagya at this time, those qualities are further enlivened in one’s consciousness, and enhance the flow of progress in the direction of enlightenment.
Applying for these Yagyas is very easy and can be done here. Please request your Yagya at least seven days in advance. To read more about the Special Yagyas please click here.
All proceeds from the Yagyas go towards supporting the Maharishi Vedic Pandits in India and are deeply appreciated.
Thank you so much for your very kind support and wishing you all the blessings of this upcoming Vedic Celebration.

In La Antilla, Spain, 1973, Maharishi speaks on how family life naturally propels our evolution — culturing our ability to enjoy and radiate both universal and individual values.
We created an eBook with audio along with the text from this lecture and included some very beautiful pictures of Maharishi.
We highly recommend viewing it on a computer with Google Chrome as this gives a very full and enjoyable experience. Please turn the pages slowly and wait for the audio bar to begin playing on the selected pages with audio. The first audio bar appears on page 4 after the title pages.

Military Veterans to Putin: Russian Troops Near Ukraine Can Become a Force for Peace
|
|
|
|
|
|
If Russia feels threatened by the expansion of the West, NATO, and the European Union, President Putin could take a portion of the 100,000 troops deployed on the border of Ukraine to create a powerful and profound global influence of peace that very few may have anticipated. We urge President Putin to use these troops to establish what is called in military circles a Prevention Wing of the Military by immediately training them in Invincible Defense Technology (IDT).
This powerful brain-based IDT technology operates on the level of what physicists call the unified field of all the laws of nature--a level a thousand million million times more powerful than the nuclear force. IDT supersedes all other defense technologies. However, the IDT system cannot be used for nefarious purposes against any country, as it creates a demonstrable and measurable effect of calm, order, and social harmony. Therefore, any country that deploys IDT on a global scale will benefit ALL countries, including Russia. We urge any and all countries to deploy IDT to create lasting world peace.
The reason for this outcome is that any military properly deploying IDT gains the ability to prevent enemies from arising, thus creating victory before war. An online video, "An Important Message for All Military Leaders" by John Hagelin, a Harvard-trained Ph.D. quantum physicist, explains in detail how IDT accomplishes these goals.
What is IDT? IDT involves large groups practicing the non-religious Transcendental Meditation® (TM) and advanced TM techniques that harness group brain power. This approach is a scientifically verified and field-tested means to defuse societal tensions by producing a coherent super-radiance field effect that radiates orderliness and harmony in the proximity of the group.

2008: Death of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was a famed Indian yoga guru. He was known for having coming up with Transcendental Meditation. Born Mahesh Prasad Varma, he was a disciple of Swami Brahmananda Saraswati and achieved fame in the 1960s. He became the guru of famous bands like the Beatles and the Beach Boys, among other celebrities. He established the non-profit organisation Global Country of World Peace in 2000. He died on February 5, 2008, in his sleep.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was probably the best known and most influential yoga guru from India over the last 50 years, with millions of followers in every part of the world. His meditation-based teachings have had an enormous impact, including on some of the best educated, most affluent and articulate minds and personalities from the East and West. Maharishi’s influence was extensive in India, in which he redefined the image of the guru, and the corpus of knowledge that the guru was expected to represent. He revived, reshaped and modernised the vast yogic and healing traditions of India and brought them on to the world stage with respect and sophistication, as relevant to everyone. Maharishi became a cult figure in the West—the media face of the yogi, mantra guru, and meditation master.
Yet, in spite of the adulation showered upon him, he did not encourage any personality cult around himself. Instead, he emphasised the higher “knowledge” that was impersonal in nature. He was able to articulate the ancient tradition of Vedic and yogic knowledge in all of its branches for the modern mind to appreciate and revere.
Maharshi was perhaps the first important guru to successfully use modern media and marketing methods, including television and video. He remarkably took the teachings of the old pandits of India—who were looked down in their own country as museum pieces from another era—and through his skillful repackaging gained them global respect in providing the inner keys to universal consciousness, the cutting edge of science and medicine, and the future evolution of humanity.
Maharshi had a deep concern for the state of the world and humanity. He created visionary schemes for new educational institutions, new communities and new cities. He researched how to bring Vedic values and dharmic principles into world governance, including how to protect nature, the Earth and its ecology. True to his universal nature, he was able to draw into his organization people from all countries, age groups, religions, and cultures.
