Mask Policy Change Effective Today
We have continued to watch the COVID numbers in Jefferson County and around the USA. Cases have dropped 90% nationally from their high a few months ago and are down again this week in Jefferson County by another 50%. We feel we can now cautiously cancel the MIU indoor mask policy. This change will be in effect Monday morning February 28.
While we can all take off our masks, we still encourage vaccination for those who have not yet done so. The new Omncron subvariant BA.2 continues to spread throughout the United States and is 30% more contagious than Omncron. We will continue to monitor this new variant and if we see a serious outbreak in Iowa, we will not hesitate to reinstitute the indoor mask policy.
Masks are still a good COVID safety protocol, and we encourage everyone to use them if the situation demands it. We also encourage people to practice social distancing as much as possible and to avoid large groups.
We thank everyone for your cooperation with this and other COVID protocols. It has been a long road, but we are coming to a better time and Spring is not far away!
Tom Brooks, Chair, MIU COVID Taskforce

He became a teacher of TM and traveled to India, Switzerland and other places. He met the founder of the TM movement, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The Beatles became interested in the movement, and Willie loved to tell about his brief conversation with George Harrison somewhere in his travels.
Willie graduated from Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa, and became a governor of the age of enlightenment. Maharishi believed that world peace was achievable through collective consciousness and members of his Purusha Group were his ambassadors. Willie was a member of that group for a number of years. He sought and received numerous contributions from people that enabled him to maintain his position and carry out his mission.
Willie took a leave of absence from the program to return home and help care for our mother in the waning years of her life, which ended in August 2005. After her death, he returned to the program and spent the next few years in Iowa before returning home one last time.

At one point, in the 1970s, she traveled to India to participate in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's meditation center. Barbara found her deeper calling through her work as a licensed clinical counselor, specializing in trauma recovery. She enjoyed her work as a clinician at Colorado Mental Health Institute of Pueblo where she could bring in her vast skill set to assist her clients. Anyone who knew Barbara knew that she was dedicated to spiritual growth and exploration. This became her lifelong passion; self-discovery, healing and expansion of consciousness.

“The purpose of Advanced Techniques is to take the experience to another, higher level. Advanced Techniques are like fertilizers; fertilizers bring better fruit to every tree. To enjoy greater achievement and fulfillment in life, take advantage of this beautiful program of Advanced Techniques to enrich the development of higher states of consciousness.” — Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Q: What are Advanced Techniques?
A: Like the TM technique, Advanced Techniques are easily-practiced mental techniques that accelerate personal growth. During TM, we experience a fourth state of consciousness, a state of restful alertness that dissolves stress, enhances brain functioning, and balances the body and emotions. Advanced Techniques speed up the integration of this state with our regular daily activity, bringing faster results from our TM practice.
Q: How many are there?
A: There are four Advanced Techniques brought to light by Maharishi in his Vedic Science and Technology, the Science and Technology of Consciousness. The first is practiced for a few minutes before going to sleep. The second, third, and fourth Advanced Techniques are effortlessly incorporated into your twice-daily TM practice.
Q: Do I learn them all at once or one at a time?
A: One at a time and in sequence. You’ll practice an Advanced Technique at least two to four months before adding the next one.
Q: Who teaches the Advanced Techniques?
A: Specially trained, highly experienced certified TM teacher Mario Orsatti has been teaching the TM technique since 1973 and the Advanced Technique courses for the last 4 years. He is the Executive Director of the Center for Health and Wellness at the David Lynch Foundation, where he oversees TM programs for government and military leaders in Washington, D.C., and for business executives in New York City. He will be present at each session for instruction and verification.
Q: Who can learn, and how do I know if I’m ready?
A: You must have practiced TM regularly, twice a day, for a minimum of the last two months to be eligible to apply for an Advanced Technique. Each technique is simple—easy to learn, easy to practice—and, best of all, enjoyable! That said, if you’d like our advice regarding your personal readiness, just give us a call.
Q: What is the course structure?
A: The course consists of three sessions:
-
First, an orientation meeting (1½ hours)
-
Second, personal instruction in the appropriate Advanced Technique (2–3 hours)
-
Third, a checking meeting the following day to answer questions and verify the correctness of your practice (2 hours)
Orientation: An orientation meeting is an opportunity to learn more about Advanced Techniques. It is free, and there is no obligation to take the course. But if you want to learn an Advanced Technique at this time, you must attend the orientation meeting and then fill out an application form. If the orientation meeting time does not work for you, let us know, and we will find another time to meet with you. Contact by email at wdevasier@tm.org or call 641-919-8188 or 641-919-1300.
Orientation: Friday, February 25 at 2:00 PM
Personal Instruction: Saturday Feb. 26th
Checking Meeting: Sunday Feb. 27th 9:30am & 11am

A Gift of Harmony, Health, and Spiritual Awakening
NEXT US NATIONAL YAGYASM PERFORMANCE
FEBRUARY 19 – MARCH 1
|
|
|
|
|
|
“It is collective consciousness that administers a nation.
“We have, with the grace of Guru Dev, established a principle of improving collective consciousness of every nation. It is with these Vedic performances, through the Yagyas and through the Yogic Flyers. That is our task before us.” — Maharishi
America is undergoing a major transformation—together with the rest of our world.
If you’ve been following the news, you know that the situation between Russia and Ukraine is precarious. There is a major concern that the Russia-Ukraine crisis could erupt into a superpower confrontation that will engulf the United States and many other nations.
Maharishi has given us the supreme technologies of Yoga and Yagya, which we can use to defuse the tension and avert this danger. We need only employ them to a sufficient degree.
Responding to the situation, generous donors from the US and several other countries moved quickly to fund a large Maharishi Yagya for peace in the Russia and Ukraine Region. This Yagya began on February 4.
If ever there was a time to support our National Yagyas, this is it.
Starting on February 19 and culminating on March 1, the highly auspicious Vedic day of Maha Shivaratri, the next National Yagya performance gives us the precious opportunity to build on that initial momentum.
Shiva represents the infinitely dynamic silence at the foundation of all creation—the almighty impulse of Creative Intelligence that clears the path to spiritual and material progress. This profoundly transformational aspect of Nature is most accessible and lively on this day.
Yagyas performed at this time are especially effective for bringing about positive transformation, and fulfilling desires most difficult to achieve—whether for individuals, families, companies, or entire nations.
The Sankalpa (intention) of the Yagya will be:
Coherence, harmony, health, and spiritual awakening
for the United States—and all of its people and
Bringing healing, coherence, and peace
for all the people of the Russia and Ukraine Region
May the full power of Nature’s Creative Intelligence guide and uplift America, and may Maharishi’s legacy of peace and enlightenment permanently bless the human race.
Feel free to be in touch with Stan Crowe, Director of our US National Yagya program, for anything you might need. scrowe@tm.org 641-919-765

A very special day is coming soon for those thinking of having a Well-Being/Special Yagya performed.
The highly auspicious Maha Shivaratri, March 1st, is that one day when the infinite peace and silence of Pure Consciousness is most accessible to bestow spiritual and material progress and fulfillment in life.
Through the performance of a Well Being Yagya/Special Yagya at this time, those qualities are further enlivened in one’s consciousness, and enhance the flow of progress in the direction of enlightenment.
Applying for these Yagyas is very easy and can be done here. Please request your Yagya at least seven days in advance. To read more about the Special Yagyas please click here.
All proceeds from the Yagyas go towards supporting the Maharishi Vedic Pandits in India and are deeply appreciated.
Thank you so much for your very kind support and wishing you all the blessings of this upcoming Vedic Celebration.

Welcome to the “Genius Lounge,” a new audio series with Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, author of the NY Times bestseller, “Strength in Stillness,” and 50-year teacher of Transcendental Meditation®.
Why do we call it Genius Lounge?
This audio series focuses on the genius of nature, from microscopic to macroscopic, including the genius of the human brain and body. The name was inspired by brain researchers who have identified key networks within the brain that underlie and foster the creative process. One such network is the “Default Mode Network,” which has also been called the “Imagination Network” and the “Genius Lounge.” Innovation gets its start here—and the practice of Transcendental Meditation accelerates the process by strengthening the creative networks within the brain and by removing the restrictive impact of stress.
In each episode, Bob shares a few minutes of exciting research findings on the brain, ancient and modern insights into consciousness, and/or inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.

The Influence of Group Meditation on the Collective Consciousness of Society
Bob Roth and Mario Orsatti discuss a 1984 interview with a Boston Globe reporter 1:38:44

|
|
Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation (DLF), joins host Mario Orsatti to discuss a 1984 interview with a reporter from the Boston Globe, in which Maharishi Mahesh Yogi answers questions about how the group practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique and advanced programs can positively impact the world.
Maharishi, the Founder of the Transcendental Meditation program, brought the TM technique from India to the West in 1959. Since then, more than 10 million people of all ages, cultures, and religions have learned the technique.
In 1963, Maharishi recorded the book Science of Being and Art of Living, which was transcribed and published in 15 languages. His second book, published in 1967, was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on the Bhagavad-Gita: A New Translation and Commentary. He wrote many more books and circled the world numerous times, speaking with world leaders and lecturing widely.
Maharishi also inspired a scientific quest for enlightenment. Over 700 published studies on the TM technique have demonstrated its far-reaching benefits—better health and longer life, greater intelligence and creativity, more fulfilling relationships and work success, reduced societal stress, and effortless creation of peace.

4. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was the pioneer of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique and is famous for being the yoga guru of The Beatles. TM yoga involves silent chants, creates a relaxation of the body and the mind and raises the consciousness. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi toured the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Switzerland from the late 1950s to the mid-1960s and taught thousands.

The key to what education can be is embedded in the word itself, which comes from the Latin root, educere, “to bring or lead out.” It implies a bringing out and developing of an individual’s full capacity for living.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who took Transcendental Meditation from India to the West, in his classic book “Science of Being and Art of Living”, opines: “The purpose of education is to culture the mind of a man so that he can accomplish all his aims in life. Education, to justify itself, should enable a man to use the full potential of his body, mind and spirit. It should also develop in him the ability to make the best use of his personality, surroundings, and circumstances so that he may accomplish the maximum in life for himself and for others”. But, it feels like, Socrates, the Greek philosopher who is credited as a founder of Western philosophy, defined education the best, among other luminaries, stating: “Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel”.
Considering how far we are from accomplishing these basic and sensible aims, we can say why there is such widespread dissatisfaction with education. Students are asked to absorb and produce more, but as the demands on them increase, what is being offered to actually increase their abilities, to provide added intelligence, insight, or emotional stability? What is being done to help them discover and create meaningful values and goals, and a direction in life? Shouldn’t education encourage and support students to discover and become who they really are, and prepare them to confront and solve the problems and answer the questions that life poses?
