MIU has crossed a threshold of accomplishment and success with the celebration of our Golden Jubilee and preparing to graduate our 10,000th student in June. We are full of pride for the five decades of achievements that our university has experienced.
We have highlighted the campus improvements over the past few years that have been a result of our annual Capital Campaign and this past year has been another banner year for upgrades and renovations including, the paving of Robert Keith Wallace Dr, the completion of the “Spanish Steps” on the east side of the Wege Center for the Arts, the grand opening of the Alexander and Beatrice Rose Theater in the Wege Center, and much more.
MIU is growing in so many inspiring ways, from record student enrollment to the full transformation to online education. Our campus expansion planning for housing and classrooms is underway, and young leaders are stepping up to succeed the first generation of administration and faculty who have built MIU into what it is today. The leadership of our President Dr. John Hagelin has been legendary with his whole attention to the life and expansion of the university.
The financial support of donors to the university has been the backbone of our most recent accomplishments. The campus renovations, digital transformation, and faculty support have grounded our progress. Each year we assure that progress with our MIU Annual Fund. Your donations are the gifts that energize our faculty and students to excel in producing graduates that carry Consciousness-Based Education into all areas of society.

While there is definitely an improvement related to the pandemic in India and many parts of the world, there remains considerable uncertainty and risk (for both CP’s and our Maharishi Vedic Pandits who come to the campus). These are especially heightened considering the long travel required, the weekly change of guests, and the very inadequate health care facilities in the area around the Brahmasthan.
We are hopeful that we can hold the January - March 2023 part of the season but we will wait until the end of September to decide.
We are pleased to share with you that, despite the significant challenges of this time, we have been able to maintain and properly take care of the large number of Maharishi Vedic Pandits at the Brahmasthan and other campuses; and that the National Yagyas, Atirudrabhishek and other Yagyas continue to be performed.
We look forward to a better time coming when we can write to you again and warmly invite you to share the experience of the Brahmasthan. Until then, we hope you stay healthy and well during these challenging days. If you have any questions please contact info@maharishiindiacourses.com.

The Chamber Singers of Southeast Iowa will present their annual spring concert, “Songs of Strength and Healing,” on Saturday, May 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Golden Magnolia Sanctuary (formerly the First Presbyterian Church), 200 South Main Street in Fairfield.
The choral program includes songs of peace, healing, and celebration, with a special emphasis on songs from Eastern Europe. Each song brings out a different aspect of sacred or secular experience, creating an inspiring musical journey of connectedness and unity that offers offers comfort, hope, upliftment, and renewal.
Several of the choral works will be accompanied by either organ, piano, or flute. A beautiful flute and organ duet by guest artists Karen Aoki Kouider and Paul Skevington will complement the choral program.
“The Chamber Singers are grateful to be sharing beautiful choral music that inspires healing and strength as we recover from pandemic challenges and cope with a world in need of peace and harmony,” says Elaine Reding, music director of the Chamber Singers. “Throughout history, singing has always been a source of strength and unity during times of upheaval and division. The songs we’ve chosen for this concert provide that nourishment to the spirit, giving voice to the natural desire for peace, love, and healing. We look forward to sharing them with our wonderful Fairfield community.”
Please join the Chamber Singers for this uplifting musical journey on Saturday, May 28. Tickets are $10 at the door ($5 for students with valid ID). For more information, please contact Elaine at elaine@lisco.com.

NEXT US NATIONAL YAGYASM PERFORMANCE MAY 31 – JUNE 10
DONATE BY MAY 25
|
Maharishi has given us a clear understanding of Yagyas, and what makes this innocent, natural performance so powerful:
“The Vedic routine of life is pure, refined, and free from malicious things—Satoguna. The Vedic Pandit performing a Yagya in that balanced state easily realizes the resolution that he makes in the beginning of the Yagya.
“The Pandit makes a resolution (Sankalpa), and then does what is prescribed to create that quality of intelligence in his own consciousness from the level of Omnipresent Transcendental Consciousness. From there, he produces the desired effect in space and time.
“Larger groups of Vedic Pandits performing Yagyas will take care of all kinds of negative trends in society.
“Every government has to be doing Yagyas. Yagya is not a known word in our civilization, and that is why peace and happiness are not known realities in this civilization. They do not know where the seat of all harmony, all peace, all prosperity, all fullness, and eternity are.” —Maharishi, May 18, 2005
Until all governments are able to recognize the necessity for Yagyas, it is our joyful duty to take advantage of Yagyas ourselves to uplift the destiny and deservedness of our nation in the family of nations.
The next 11-day US National Yagya will begin on the evening of May 31.
The Sankalpa (intention) of the Yagya will be:
Coherence, harmony, health, prosperity and spiritual awakening
for the United States—and all its people and
Bringing healing, coherence, and peace
to all the people of the Ukraine and Russia region
May the full power of Nature’s Creative Intelligence guide and uplift America, and may Maharishi’s legacy of peace and enlightenment permanently bless the human race.

A New Podcast
Dr. Tony Nader with Dr. Bernardo Kastrup
|
Are we all in a shared dream? Is the world that we perceive truly the world as it is? Dr. Tony Nader sits down with Dr. Bernardo Kastrup to discuss “Idealism and the Nature of Ultimate Reality” on the latest episode of Dr. Nader’s podcast, Consciousness Is All There Is.
The world we generally take to be real is only one version of the world, the one our senses and our minds allow us to experience, and that experience is different for every single human being. Do you think we’re stuck within the limitations of our senses, which can only deliver impressions within the range that they were designed to recognize?
Bernardo Kastrup is the executive director of Essentia Foundation. His work has been leading the modern renaissance of metaphysical idealism, the notion that reality is essentially mental. He has a PhD in philosophy (ontology and philosophy of mind) and another PhD in computer engineering (reconfigurable computing, artificial intelligence).
As a scientist, Dr. Kastrup has worked for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and the Philips Research Laboratories, where the “Casimir Effect” of Quantum Field Theory was discovered.
Formulated in detail in many academic papers and books, Dr. Kastrup’s ideas have been featured in Scientific American, the Institute of Art and Ideas, the Blog of the American Philosophical Association, and Big Think, among others. Bernardo’s most recent book is Science Ideated: The Fall of Matter and the Contours of the Next Mainstream Scientific Worldview.

Welcome to the “Genius Lounge,” a new audio series with Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, author of the NY Times bestseller, “Strength in Stillness,” and 50-year teacher of Transcendental Meditation®.
Why do we call it Genius Lounge?
This audio series focuses on the genius of nature, from microscopic to macroscopic, including the genius of the human brain and body. The name was inspired by brain researchers who have identified key networks within the brain that underlie and foster the creative process. One such network is the “Default Mode Network,” which has also been called the “Imagination Network” and the “Genius Lounge.” Innovation gets its start here—and the practice of Transcendental Meditation accelerates the process by strengthening the creative networks within the brain and by removing the restrictive impact of stress.
In each episode, Bob shares a few minutes of exciting research findings on the brain, ancient and modern insights into consciousness, and/or inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.

In a randomized clinical trial, Joshi and colleagues showed that Transcendental Meditation (TM) can significantly improve burnout symptoms of emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and insomnia compared with other interventions, albeit without significant improvement in acute psychological distress.
Joshi reported the results of the trial here at the American Thoracic Society (ATS) 2022 International Conference.
The results show that "TM is a feasible, efficacious intervention in healthcare workers, especially during a pandemic," Joshi said.

In this profound lecture from Amherst, Massachusetts USA in 1971, Maharishi discusses the the cycle of desire and action in human life. He explains how "befriending the general manager of the factory of life", using the natural and ever-available force of evolution, is the key to success and fulfillment.
This eBook with audio along with the text from this lecture includes some very beautiful pictures of Maharishi. We highly recommend viewing it on a computer with Google Chrome as this gives a very full and enjoyable experience. Please turn the pages slowly and wait for the audio bar to begin playing on the selected pages with audio. The first audio bar appears on page 4 after the title pages.

Music for Life—Music As Vibrating Consciousness 58:01
With acclaimed Italian violinist Alessandra Cuffaro
|
|
|
|
|
|
Alessandra Cuffaro talks about music as a representation of the essence of life—vibrating consciousness. She also discusses how her three years of daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique and its Advanced Techniques have impacted her professional and personal life.
Ms. Cuffaro is the first woman in the history of Italian violinists to perform the most difficult virtuoso pieces ever written for violin, Paganini’s “24 Capricci,” in one concert. Her more than 700 performances as a soloist with orchestra, solo violinist, or in chamber music have been reviewed in American, Italian, Spanish, French, and Eastern European media.
Ms. Cuffaro’s work in orchestras, chamber groups, and national and international competitions has earned critical acclaim. Her performances have been featured many times on Italian national television, and she appeared in a CBS Sunday Morning 2018 news feature about the ancient art of violin-making in the Italian town of Cremona. She has been a violin professor at the Italian Conservatory in Cagliari, Italy, and is currently a professor of violin at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Elements of Vedic home design can promote physical and mental health, improved quality of life, reduced stress, and better sleep. These findings appear in the first comprehensive review of published studies on the benefits of Maharishi Vastu® architecture (MVA), recently published in Global Advances in Health and Medicine.
“The goal of Maharishi Vastu architecture is to improve occupants’ lives,” said Jon Lipman, AIA, lead author of the study and director of the Institute for Vedic Architecture at MIU. “It is gratifying to find research that shows how Vastu buildings can improve our health and productivity.”
Some of the key findings of the review include:
-
Sleeping with one’s head to the east or south is associated with positive health outcomes, such as lower heart rate, blood pressure, and serum cholesterol levels.
-
Homes with south entrances are associated with poorer mental health and more financial problems.
-
Facing east while working is associated with greater brain coherence and faster task completion.
-
Occupants of Maharishi Vastu architecture homes or office buildings display greater creativity and report improved health and quality of life.

Since they came from different locations and only attended to learn TM, they decided to form a chama (local group) for organizational purposes and TM activities. They decided to meet every Saturday and meditate together, as well as trying to synchronize their morning and evening meditation.
Patrick and Lamayani then went to Gelai Bomba, an even more remote village where they taught 130 ladies who had to walk many miles in order to attend the course.

The documentary examines how Indian music and culture shaped the music of the band and explores how The Beatles served as ambassadors of the pioneering World music sound and cultural movement. In 1968, The Beatles had achieved mass fame and fortune yet were searching for deeper meaning in their lives. Under the spiritual guidance of Indian guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, The Beatles took a trip to Rishikesh, India, to study Transcendental Meditation. Drawing together an expansive archive of footage including contemporaneous locale shooting in India, recordings, photographs and first-hand interviews, The Beatles and India documents this East-meets-West touchstone in pop-culture history.
Inspired by Ajoy Bose’s book Across The Universe — The Beatles In India, the documentary was produced by British Indian music entrepreneur Reynold D’Silva and directed by Bose (his directorial debut) and cultural researcher Pete Compton.
The Beatles and India has been awarded Best Film Audience Choice and Best Music at the 2021 U.K. Asian Film Festival “Tongues on Fire.” The film has also been nominated for Best Documentary at the 2022 New York Indian Film Festival.

From Brave Words on May 2, 2022: In 1968 the world’s most popular rock and roll band, The Beatles, had achieved mass fame and fortune yet were searching for deeper meaning in their lives. Under the spiritual guidance of Indian guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, The Beatles took a trip to Rishikesh, India to study Transcendental Meditation® and set out on a path of deep enlightenment that would change the world.

Jam Broadcasting on May 2, 2022 had this to say: The Beatles and India also looks at the band’s 1968 trip to Transcendental Meditation guru the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi‘s ashram in Rishikesh, during which many of the songs that appeared on The White Album were written.

|
|
Why did these four rockstars from England come to an ashram in Rishikesh in the 1960s? What drew them to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in particular? How did the guru-shishya relationship change over time? What did they gain from their stay at the ashram? How did the ashram benefit from their fame? When did the trip, both literal and metaphorical, begin to go downhill? Armed with his experience as a journalist, Bose pursues each question rigorously.
