Happy Independence Day Monday, July 4
Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States, which was ratified by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The Second Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject (and subordinate) to the monarch of Britain, King George III, and were now united, free, and independent states.
Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches, and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States.

Welcome to the “Genius Lounge,” a new audio series with Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, author of the NY Times bestseller, “Strength in Stillness,” and 50-year teacher of Transcendental Meditation®.
Why do we call it Genius Lounge?
This audio series focuses on the genius of nature, from microscopic to macroscopic, including the genius of the human brain and body. The name was inspired by brain researchers who have identified key networks within the brain that underlie and foster the creative process. One such network is the “Default Mode Network,” which has also been called the “Imagination Network” and the “Genius Lounge.” Innovation gets its start here—and the practice of Transcendental Meditation accelerates the process by strengthening the creative networks within the brain and by removing the restrictive impact of stress.
In each episode, Bob shares a few minutes of exciting research findings on the brain, ancient and modern insights into consciousness, and/or inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.

In this fascinating lecture from 1971, in Mallorca, Spain, Maharishi describes how and in what time frame the effects of our past and present actions come back to us. He concludes by explaining that this intricate pattern of Nature’s reactions to all beings is such that, 'Every individual breath is connected with the breath of the millions and billions of beings in the universe.'
This eBook with audio along with the text from this lecture includes some very beautiful pictures of Maharishi. We highly recommend viewing it on a computer with Google Chrome as this gives a very full and enjoyable experience. Please turn the pages slowly and wait for the audio bar to begin playing on the selected pages with audio. The first audio bar appears on page 4 after the title pages.

The Coherence Effect
A discussion with author and attorney Jay Marcus 54:35
Jay Marcus, J.D., began his law career in New York City and is now a practicing attorney in Iowa. He was a co-founder and associate editor of Contemporary Drug Problems, a respected research journal on drug abuse, and he has lectured extensively on drug abuse, prison reform, and meditation.
Mr. Marcus is the author of four prior books, including TM and Business (1977) and The Crime Vaccine (1996), which was designated by BookView as one of the five best nonfiction books of 1996. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and the University of Virginia Law School. He served as Captain in the U.S. Army Infantry.
In this conversation Mr. Marcus discusses how Transcendental Meditation practice and the Maharishi AyurVeda® program allow us to harness the laws of nature that support health, cultivate more powerful brain functioning, and create greater well-being. He explores what life is from the perspective of science, why generating coherence is critical to health and human evolution, and how the increased coherence experienced in mind and body from TM practice fits into a larger understanding of life.

The nature of life is to grow. We all want more happiness, more love, more knowledge, and more power to achieve bigger and bigger goals and reach fulfillment. But consider how most of us go about trying to achieve these things. We look to the outside, to the surface level of life, in an effort to control the ever-changing reality and circumstances we encounter. We’re tossed around from side to side, much like trying to navigate turbulent waters in a small rowboat. As we grasp at anything that appears to be stable, the next wave knocks us untethered from our perch of false security.
For most, this is all we typically experience in life – the surface level. But much like the vast and expansive ocean, there’s a deeper, more profound reality inside of each of us. That is the reality of our mind, our intellect, our ego, and our true self. For us to achieve the fulfillment that we seek, rather than being caught up in the tumultuous existence on the surface level of daily living we need to experience our deeper inner nature. Our outer achievements happen when we have purposeful action – and our action is only effective when it’s well-thought-out and properly planned. Without clarity our efforts are fraught with difficulties, we expend a lot of energy without desirable results and that just becomes even more exhausting. It is from the direct experience of our inner self – much like the depths of the ocean – that silence, creativity, and clarity come. When we’ve gone beyond every expression on the surface, we experience pure unbounded Being – pure consciousness. Silence and quiet within our consciousness.

Bob Roth: I want to address a pretty basic question that many of you know the answer to, but many of you don’t. And since this is a community experience (these group meditations), I want to be sure that everybody feels comfortable and is up to speed. And one of the questions that frequently comes up, even among people who practice TM, is, “How is this different from other types of meditation, or mindfulness meditation?” Because we hear that term: mindfulness meditation.

David Lynch has been associated with the Beatles on multiple occasions for various reasons. While he has been a fan of the band since he was a teenager, Lynch has also been deeply influenced by the meditation techniques advocated by members such as Paul McCartney during his own explorations of Transcendental Meditation.
Those techniques were introduced to the Beatles in India by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and meditation played a major role in the creative process of the band. Transcendental Meditation has also been crucially important for Lynch as well since the acclaimed auteur uses meditation to delve deeper into his unique ideas.
