Vacation Period Housing Guidelines
Please read carefully if you plan to stay on campus during summer or winter breaks.
Room & Board Charges
- Summer and winter breaks are not included in the room and board fees for the fall and spring semesters.
- Students may remain on campus during Thanksgiving and Spring Break at no additional charge.
Move-Out Deadlines
- Summer Break: Students must vacate their rooms within 48 hours after their last class.
- Winter Break: Students must vacate their rooms within 24 hours after their last class.
- This applies even if the student will be returning to the same room after the break.
- All rooms must be left clean and in good condition.
Return Dates
- Students may return to campus the Friday before classes resume following summer or winter break.
Staying on Campus During Breaks
Students may remain on campus during summer or winter breaks by choosing one of the following options:
- Work Program Option
- Students may apply for a temporary 18-hour-per-week campus job through the Human Resources Office.
- Employment is not guaranteed, and availability is limited.
- If a student works fewer than 18 hours per week, room and board charges will apply at the full break rate.
- Pay-to-Stay Option
- Students may also stay by paying a weekly housing fee of $100, due in advance to the Housing Office.
Room Access & Usage
- Students who are not approved to stay on campus during breaks may not access their rooms during this time.
- Unauthorized room use will result in additional charges.
- The Univesrity reserves the right to use student rooms during vacation periods.
- The Univesrity reserves the right to assign students to temporary housing during breaks, if needed.

All students (except for the ones in professionals programs) staying on campus during the summer/winter break or returning for the next semester must complete this application.
If you are enrolled in ComPro or an MBA Professionals program, please check in with your department advisors in regard to summer/winter break housing and your obligations.
Important: Faculty and staff dependents are only permitted to stay in student residence halls during winter break if authorized to participate in one of the above programs.
